Matt Daniel is in his seventh year at
North Georgia and his third year as the Head Athletic
Trainer. He supervises two full-time assistant athletic
trainers, one graduate assistant athletic trainer and 26 athletic
training students while overseeing the entire sports medicine care
for the UNG athletic department. Daniel provides specific
coverage to men's and women's basketball and rifle.
As a certified ATC, L, Daniel oversees UNG's 13 intercollegiate sports and supervises the coverage of all intercollegiate events and practices. His job responsibilities include prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries, medical coverage of all home contests and practices and managing the athletic training staff and student-worker staff.
After completing one year as a graduate assistant and assistant athletic trainer at Berry College, Daniel spent three years at North Georgia as an assistant professor and assistant athletic trainer before being named the Head Athletic Trainer in the summer of 2011.
Daniel received his Bachelor's Degree
in Athletic Training from North Georgia in 2005. He also received
his Master's Degree in Secondary Education in August 2007 from
He is also the faculty advisor for Iota Tau Alpha, Athletic Training Honor Society at UNG. Daniel carries professional memberships in National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), Georgia Athletic Trainers' Association and Southeastern Athletic Trainers' Association. He currently serves as the GATA Treasure and has volunteered his time with Special Olympics.
Daniel now resides in Dawsonville, Ga. with his wife Julia, who is also a graduate of North Georgia.
