NORTH GEORGIA HALL OF FAME CONSTITUTION

Article 1.  Authority, Name and Purpose
Authority: The North Georgia College & State University Athletics Hall of Fame created by the President, North Georgia College & State University on July 1, 2010.

Name: The name of the committee shall be the “Athletics Hall of Fame Committee of the North Georgia College & State University” here after referred to as the AHOF.

Purpose: The purpose of the AHOF is to give special recognition to those individuals whose athletic achievements and contributions have brought honor and distinction to the University.

Article 2.  Board of Directors

The Board of Directors shall be responsible for operation of the Athletics Hall of Fame and shall serve as the selectors of all honorees.

The Board of Directors shall be composed of:
        
The Vice President of Institutional Advancement
The Director of Athletics
The Senior Womens’ Athletics Administrator
The Saints Club President
The Sports Communications Director
Saints Club Member – at - Large
Saints Club Member – at - Large
Saints Club Member - at - Large
Member - at -Large

Members - at- Large shall serve a term of 3 years.  Terms shall be staggered with one member being appointed each year.  A new board member shall assume board members duties at the annual meeting.  The AHOF banquet at the homecoming event shall be the annual meeting. The Saints Club shall assign the terms of the initial Saints Club members-at-large.  The president of the University shall appoint the member - at -large.

Members-at-Large shall be limited to two consecutive terms.

Each year the Board shall elect a Chairman.  The chairman’s duties shall be to call a meeting of the board and to preside at all meetings.

The Sports Communications Director shall serve as Secretary of the AHOF.

Six members shall constitute a quorum for all business of the AHOF

Article 3.  Nomination and Selection of Honorees

Anyone may nominate a candidate for AHOF selection.  The nomination must be in accordance with the By-Laws of the AHOF

Selection to the AHOF shall be made by the Board of Directors.  Candidates must have a simple majority of the Board members present.

Honorees may be selected in the following categories.

Athletic performance

Coaching at North Georgia College & State University

Coaching at another institution by a graduate of North Georgia College & State University

Meritorious Service to the Athletic program of North Georgia College & State University

Article 4.  Amendment to the Constitution

The Constitution may be amended upon approval of 2/3 of the Board members and approval by the President of the University.
