Saints Baseball To Host Golf Tournament
Dahlonega, GA – The North Georgia College
& State University baseball program announced this afternoon
the plans to host a golf tournament on Monday, October 13, to help
fund the 2009 season.
The North Georgia Baseball Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008 at the Reunion Golf Club in Hoschton, Georgia. Please contact Rich Wiley at 678-959-0965 with question regarding the event.
Entry fee for the tournament will be $500 per team or $125 per golfer. The tournament is limited to the first 25 teams and the course will be closed to outside business with lunch being catered by Barberitos Southwestern Grille.
Check-in will be from 8:45 to 9:45 AM. The tournament format will begin at 10:00 AM sharp with a four-man scramble. You may choose your team before prior to the tournament or you will be paired by handicaps.
Reunion Golf Club is a par 72, classic Michael Riley designed golf course that plays 6,882 yards from the back tee. With dramatic elevations, bentgrass greens, and some of the most beautiful views around, Reunion is one of the most played courses in North Atlanta. In fact, it was voted upon opening as the Best New Golf Course in Georgia by Georgia Golf News.
Located in a beautiful John Wieland Homes Community this golf course provides a fun challenge to golfers of all levels. Just off I-85 near Brasleton, Georgia, Reunion Golf Club is also home to many spectacular golf outings and tournaments, wedding receptions, and rehearsal dinners.
In 2008, North Georgia found themselves just two games over the .500 mark at 18-16 midway through the season, but the team completed an historic turn-a-around, winning 23 of their last 26 games to claim the Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship. The Saints also advanced to the program’s first ever NCAA Regional and finished the season ranked 20th in the nation.
A trio of Saints from the squad were named to the Rawlings/ABCA All-Southeast Region team, and first baseman Rob Flanigan was named First-Team All-American and drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 29th round of the Major League Baseball Draft.
