AMERICUS, GA – North Georgia College
& State University picked up a series victory in their final
Peach Belt Conference game of the season, blanking Georgia
Southwestern 7-0 at Hurricane field Sunday afternoon.
The Saints improve to 26-22 overall and 15-12 in the Peach Belt Conference, while the Hurricanes fall to 16-31 on the season and 7-17 in the league.
Blake Hobby (4-4) tossed a complete shutout in the victory, allowing just six hits while striking out nine in the Saints first shutout of the season. The freshman faced just five batters over the minimum, coaxing to groundouts and six fly outs in the seven-run win.
North Georgia scored two runs in the third, before coming on strong late with five runs in the last three innings. Craig Brisson had a career day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two home runs, four runs batted in and three runs scored.
Four other players added to the hit total, including Chad Sage who drove in a pair of runs in the eighth inning with a two-run single through the right side before Brisson capped the scoring with a leadoff homer in the ninth to give the Saints a 7-0 victory.
The Saints return to action on Tuesday afternoon, hosting in-state rival West Georgia with first pitch set for 4:00 p.m. at Bob Stein Stadium.
