Saints Keep Moving up, Ranked 6th in NCAA DII

Complete Poll

DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia baseball team has moved up four spots to #6 in the latest 2009 Collegiate Baseball Magazine Division II Top 30 Poll released Monday afternoon.

The poll came out as the Saints battled Lander in the rubber game of a rain delayed three-game set. North Georgia rallied in the eighth inning to pull out a 3-2 win over the Bearcats who moved up three spots to #19.

The Saints continue to make history as they remain in the nation’s top 10, the highest ranking for any program at North Georgia since the institution entered the NCAA in the fall of 2005.

With the Saints coming in at #6, this marks the 11th consecutive poll North Georgia has appeared in dating back to April 21, 2008 where they came in at #24.

North Georgia continues to be the highest ranked PBC team in the poll, with GCSU following close behind, moving up six spots to #12, while Lander is 19th, and Francis Marion moves up eight spots to #21.

The Saints will jump on a bus this evening and travel to Tennessee for a two-game series with Carson-Newman College. The teams will play single games on Tuesday and Wednesday with first pitch slated for 2:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. respectively.

North Georgia will then return home to face PBC opponent and in-state rival Columbus State for a three-game series over the weekend. A single game is scheduled for Friday evening, with a doubleheader to follow on Saturday afternoon.
