North Georgia 8-4 at Bob Stein Stadium in non-conference
The Saints fall to 5-4 on the season, splitting a doubleheader on the day, while Bellarmine wins their first game of the weekend, improving to 2-4 on the year.
North Georgia put a couple of early runs on the scoreboard with a two-out triple off the bat of Troy Snitker, bringing Chad Sage and Andre Airich racing home to give the Saints a 2-0 first-inning lead.
Bellarmine answered right back in the second inning with a trio of runs, thanks to RBI singles off the bat of Marty Roberts Zachary Blanchard to give the Knights the lead at 3-2.
The Knights made the most of their fourth inning, scoring four runs on five hits as Patrick Brady blasted a two-run homer to left field to cap the inning that gave Bellarmine a 7-2 lead.
North Georgia would add single runs in the fifth and seventh innings, while Bellarmine’s insurance run in the fifth created the 8-4 score that held true to the final out.
Jesse Coxwell (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing four hits and three runs in just 1.2 innings of work. The Saints sent five pitchers to the mound in the contest, striking out seven Bellarmine batters along the way.
North Georgia and Bellarmine are set to play the fourth and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon with first pitch for 1:00 p.m. at Bob Stein Stadium.
