DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia baseball program and head coach Tom Cantrell has announced that seven players have signed national letters of intent during the NCAA's early signing period to join the Saints baseball program next fall.
"We have a group of outstanding student-athletes joining our program," Cantrell said. "We have enjoyed spending time with these players and their families through the recruiting process and look forward to having them a part of the winning tradition at North Georgia."
Taylor Keinat (Winder Barrow HS), Jacob Beauchamp (Brookwood HS), Brandon Agar (Brookwood HS), Tremayne Toorie (Brookwood HS), Ross Hampton (Blessed Trinity), Alex Hand (Newnan HS), and Rico Ramirez (Dominion Christian HS) will all make their way to North Georgia in the fall of 2011.
The Saints finished last season in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division II top 30 poll, rising to as high as No. 12 in the country before finishing with a 34-17 record as the No. 21 team in the land.
The 2011 schedule kicks off with 14 of the team's first 17 games at home, including series against Mars Hill, Stillman College, and Millersville University the first three weeks of February.
Plays for Head Coach Brian Smith at Winder Barrow High School where he was named First-Team 8AAAA All-Region in 2010. Named to Georgia Dugout Club's Top 100 and named to Athens Banner All-Area Team in 2010. Recorded 51.0 inning of work last season with an earned run average of 2.05, while striking out 60 batters and notching a 5-1 record.
Plays for Head Coach Rick Howard at Brookwood High School where he recorded an earned run average of 3.00 last season with two wins and three losses. Appeared in nine games with two complete game performances, while striking out 49 batters in 44.1 innings of work. Named to Georgia Dugout Club's Top 100, and has received Scholar Athlete honors each of the last three years.
Plays for Head Coach Rick Howard at Brookwood High School where he has been named to the Georgia Dugout Club's Top 100, and the Dugout Player of the Month last April. Had a record of 3-3 last season with 31 strikeouts in 29 innings of work.
Plays for Head Coach Rick Howard at Brookwood High School where the outfielder was named First-Team All-Country last season and the Dugout Players of the Month last March. Hit .385 in 91 plate appearances, with 35 hits, including one home run, six doubles, and one triple. Tallied seven stolen bases and scored 22 runs in 2010.
Plays for Head Coach Andy Harlin at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School where he helped lead the Titans to the AA State Semi-Finals last season, a 24-11 record, and a fourth place finish in the final coaches poll. He hit .402 with an on base percentage of .484, while driving in 29 runs and recording three home runs last season. Named to the 2010 Seahawk Invitational All-Tournament Team, and earned Second-Team All-Beacon honors in North Fulton County.
Plays for Head Coach Kenny Morris at Newnan High School where the middle infielder hit .323 last season with four home runs and 28 runs batted in. He scored 28 runs, had 31 hits, and recorded an on-base percentage of .604 during the 2010 campaign.
Plays at Dominion Christian High School where he started in all 29 games last season, helping lead the Knights to the 2010 GISA AAA Region 1 Championship and the GISA AAA State Semifinals. He hit .450 with three home runs, 21 doubles, and four triples last season, while driving in 25 runs in 83 plate appearances.
