Saints Score Early, Pound Trojans for 12-4 Victory

DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia baseball team used a seven-run first inning on Tuesday evening on their way to a 12-4 victory over Anderson University at Bob Stein Stadium in non-conference action.

The Saints improve to 20-11 overall on the year, while the Trojans fall to 15-21 on the season. North Georgia is now 11-5 in home games, and 14-2 in non-conference games on the year.

North Georgia manufactured a run early on the way to the team's biggest inning of the year to open the game. Jordan Erisman led off the game with a single, and later scored on a balk to open the floodgates as the Saints pushed across six more runs in the first inning. Chad Sage and Brad Hall provided the fireworks as both sluggers crushed two-run homers to highlight the seven-run inning.

The Saints continued to get run production with two runs in the fourth inning, followed single runs in three more innings to plate 12 runs on 14 hits.

Sage had a career day at the plate, going 5-for-5 with two runs scored and four runs batted in, as the senior continues to put up big offensive numbers. Hall finished the game 3-for-5 with three runs batted in, while Troy Snitker tallied a pair of hits and scored two runs.

Anderson scored a single run in the third inning off a Thomas Padro RBI single to left field, and added three more in the sixth inning, highlighted by an Erick Sanderson two-run homer down the left field line.

Daniel Warzon (3-0) picked up the victory in relief, tossing 6.0 innings and allowing four runs on eight hits. Jesse Coxwell recorded two innings with all zeros, and Jacob Rickett breezed through the 9th inning in style, recording two strikeouts to send Anderson packing.

North Georgia returns to action over the weekend, welcoming in-state rival and 26th-ranked Columbus State to town for a three-game series. The Saints and Cougars will open the set on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Bob Stein Stadium.
