AMERICUS, GA – The North Georgia baseball team jumped back into the win column on Saturday afternoon, splitting a doubleheader with Georgia Southwestern at Hurricane Stadium in Peach Belt Conference action.

The Saints (13-14, 4-10 PBC) took game two 15-2 to earn their first conference win in 20 days, while the Hurricanes (5-25, 3-13 PBC) won game one 6-3 to snap a five game losing streak.

Game 1: Georgia Southwestern 6, North Georgia 3

The Hurricanes jumped on Saints starting pitcher Taylor Keinat early, plating five runs in the home half of the third inning thanks to a two-run homer by Gabby Ramirez and a three-run shot by Michel Coffey. Coffey would add an insurance run an inning later when he hit an RBI double to right to give the Hurricanes a 6-0 lead.

Hurricanes starter Frank Ambrosino held the Saints hitless through the first 4.2 innings before freshman Andrew Gordon singled to left field.

North Georgia cut the Southwestern lead in half in the top of the sixth when they plated three runs on four hits. Travis Naraine and Matthew Black each hit RBI doubles and Dustin Carpenter capped the scoring with a run scoring single to right field.

Ambrosino would settle down and hold the Saints at bay for the rest of the contest, tossing a complete game to earn his first win of the season, while Keinat suffered the loss to fall to 1-3. Davis Partick and Cody Clickner pitched well tossing five innings of scoreless relief.

Offensively, Gordon paced the Saints going 3-4.

Game 2: North Georgia 15, Georgia Southwestern 2

The Saints wasted no time getting on the board in game two as they greeted Hurricanes starter Matt Weaver with three runs in the top of the first. When all was said and done in the contest North Georgia exploded for 15 runs and pounded out 22 hits to cruise to the victory.

Jacob Beauchamp tossed eight shutout innings while scattering four hits and striking out five to pick up his third win of the season. Chip Fleming worked the ninth to seal the victory for the Saints.

Derek Hooper got things started with a one-out double down the left field line and Kenny Bellavance followed with a walk. Matthew Black then came to plate with two runners on and he delivered, smacking a three-run homer to left center.

North Georgia blew the game wide open in the top of the third when they scored eight runs on seven hits. The first seven batters to the plate in the frame all reached base for the Saints. Matthew Black and Terrell Jones got things started with back-to-back run scoring hits to left field. Two batters later Gordon came to plate with the bases loaded and he cleared them with a double down the left field line.

The Saints were not done as Eason Spivey knocked an RBI double down the left field line and Jordan Erisman capped the scoring with an RBI single up the middle.

North Georgia kept pouring it on as they added two insurance runs in each of the fifth and seventh innings.

Offensively, every starter had a hit for the Saints. Erisman led the way going 5-6 with two RBI's, while Bellavance went 4-5 with three RBI's and Black went 3-6 with four RBI's.
