AUGUSTA, GA – After tossing eight shutout innings in a conference victory over Georgia Southwestern, Jacob Beauchamp has been named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week.

The league office announced the news on Tuesday afternoon as the Saints prepare to take on Anderson in non-conference action later this evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm.

In two appearances last week, Beauchamp was stellar as he tossed nine scoreless innings in two North Georgia wins.

The Snellville, Georgia, native began the week by working a nearly flawless eighth inning in a 5-3 win over Toccoa Falls.

Later in the week Beauchamp delivered his best collegiate start to date, pitching eight masterful innings in a 15-2 win over Georgia Southwestern. Over the eight innings Beauchamp scattered just four hits, while striking out five.

He set down the side in order in the second, fourth, sixth and seventh and retired seven in a row at one point before a batter reached on an error. Only three Hurricane base runners made it into scoring during his outing.

With the win Beauchamp improved to 3-0 on the season, while lowering his earned run average to a team best 3.00.
