North Georgia Falls 13-0 to Flagler in Weekend Series Finale
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The University of North Georgia baseball team was unable to get much going in the way of offense Sunday afternoon as the Saints fell 13-0 to Flagler College in the series finale.
Flagler (12-14, 5-10 PBC) out-hit North Georgia (7-15, 3-6 PBC) 11-6 in the game while the Saints from Dahlonega also committed five errors. The St. Augustine Saints scored one run in the third inning, two more in the fifth and then tacked on four in the seventh before closing out the game with six in the eighth.
Third baseman Derek Hooper had the most productive outing at the plate as he went 2-3 while Andrew Brodbeck led Flagler with a 3-3 performance that included four runs scored and a walk.
Sophomore left-handed pitcher Jacob Beauchamp (0-3) pitched the first six innings for North Georgia and struck out four batters but was saddled with the loss for North Georgia. Jake Brandenberger (5-1) went the full distance on the mound for Flagler as he recorded the shutout with five strikeouts.
North Georgia will remain on the road for two mid-week games as they travel to Carson-Newman for a pair of games on Tuesday, Mar. 19 and Wednesday, Mar. 20. First pitch on Tuesday is slated for 2:00 p.m.
