DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia College & State University Cheerleading squad impressed last week at the 2011 CHEERSPORT National Championships, competing in the College 4 Division and coming out on top to earn National Championship honors in the field of eight teams.
Held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Ga., on February 18-20, the Saints posted a score of 803.5 to edge the University of North Carolina who finished in the runner-up position with 764.5 points. The University of Georgia took third place, while Drexel and Virginia Tech rounded out the top five with scores of 732.5 and 716 respectively.
CHEERSPORT was founded in 1993 by all-star coaches who loved competitive cheerleading/dance and who believed they could conduct competitions that would be better for the participants, the coaches and the spectators. They utilized their experiences at other competitions to design CHEERSPORT.
