Men's Golf In Striking Distance at Coastal Georgia invite

ST. SIMONS, GA – Playing in their second tournament in as many weeks, the North Georgia men's golf team is in the middle of the pack after the opening round of the Coastal Georgia Men's Winter Invitational at the Sea Island Golf Course in St. Simons, Georgia.

The Saints sit in 6th place in the field of 11 teams after firing an opening-round 323, sitting just ahead of SCAD Atlanta at 334 and Young Harris College who recorded a 337 on the opening day. Shorter College holds the overall lead, putting together a 305 to sit atop the field heading into Tuesday's final round.

Howard Duffin led the charge for the Saints, firing a team-leading 76, while Matt Rochlin continued his stellar play, currently sitting three shots off Duffin after his opening round 79. Freshman Grant Rish walked off the 18th green with an 82, while Brian Mallory and Dillon Bowers rounded out the team, both recording an 86.

The Saints will play the final round of the two-round event on Tuesday morning, teeing off on No. 10 at the Sea Island Golf Course in St. Simons, Georgia.
