Saint Men Increase Lead in Second Round, Claim Chick-fil-A Spring Invite by 14 Strokes

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The University of North Georgia men's golf team improved its overall score by two strokes from Monday to Tuesday as the Saints won their own Chick-fil-A Spring Invitational at Achasta Golf Club by 14 strokes over second-place Young Harris College.

The Saints carded a 307 in the opening round on Monday and them improved that score by two strokes to a 305 in Tuesday's round, finishing with a two-round score of 612. Fellow Peach Belt Conference institution Young Harris finished Tuesday's round with a 315 after Monday's 311 to wrap up the six-team tournament with a 626. Martin Methodist College finished third as a team with a 626.

Martin Methodist's D.J. Adcock took home the individual title with a two-round stroke count of 150 after carding a 74 on Tuesday. North Georgia's Grant Rish finished second, one stroke back, after matching Adcock's 74 which was the low score for Tuesday.

Will Bracket ended the tournament tied for third with a two-day score of 152 while Aaron George also finished in the top-10 with a 155 and in a tie for eighth.

Zach Caldwell and Hunter Beach rounded out the Saints' scoring five with a 156 and a 165 respectively. Caldwell finished in sole possession of 11th-place while Beach finished in a tie for 27th.

North Georgia's men will next compete in the Lander Bearcat Invitational on Monday, Mar. 25 and Tuesday, Mar. 26 in Greenwood, S.C.
