AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of North Georgia men’s and women’s golf teams placed LeeAnn Noble, Casey Truelove and Derek Watson on the Peach Belt Conference Golf All-Academic Teams as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
A sophomore from Gainesville, Ga., Noble sports a 3.75 grade point average (GPA) as a Pre-Nursing major. She competed in 10 events this season, totaling 18 rounds played. She averaged a round of 88.6 strokes and her best finish came when she tied for ninth place in a match against West Georgia on April 12, 2013.
A junior from Dalton, Ga., Truelove has earned a 3.55 GPA so far as an Accounting major. She competed in 12 events this season totaling 20 rounds played. She averaged 84.2 strokes and placed in the top 10 twice this season. She placed eighth in the Chick-fil-A Spring Invite at Achasta Golf Club and finished tied for seventh in the West Georgia match.
A junior from Gainesville, Ga., Watson boasts a 3.51 GPA also as an Accounting major. Watson competed in six rounds this season, totaling 12 rounds. He averaged 80.9 strokes a round and finished in the top 20 twice, including tied for 17th in the Smokey Mountain Intercollegiate to start the fall portion of the season. He also finished tied for 18th in the North Georgia Tri-Match against West Georgia and Clayton State.
The All-Academic team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.
