Due West, SC - The North Georgia College & State University men's soccer team traveled to Erskine College Wednesday evening in search of their fourth straight road win, but the Flying fleet had different plans, storming back in the second half to capture a 2-1 victory.
North Georgia came out strong and dominated much of the first half. The Saints were able to take a 1-0 lead during the 25th minute of play as Calvin Cook hit a beautiful shot into the back net from 25 yards out. The Saints would carry the 1-0 advantage into the half.
The Flying Fleet got on the board in the 60th minute as Kyle Bennett took a penalty kick from 18 yards out and placed the shot over the defensive wall and past goalkeeper Rade Tanaskovic to tie the game 1-1.
In the 75th minute, Erskine pushed the ball forward and midfielder Adam Blake found Reis Williams making a run for the goal, resulting in a one-on-one opportunity for Williams who chipped the ball in for a 2-1 lead, which proved to be all the Flying Fleet would need.
North Georgia's Tanakovic earned 3 saves and faced 5 shots while Erskine's Ronnie Murray posted 4 saves of his own against 5 shots.
The Saints return to action Friday evening as they travel to the University of Alabama-Huntsville for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
