Contact: Joey Daniels,

CENTRAL, SC – The North Georgia men's soccer team finished level after  90 minutes with Southern Wesleyan , 1-1, in an exhibition match played Friday night at the SWU Soccer Complex in Central, South Carolina.

The Saints would strike first as James Dobbin scored a goal on a good pass from Gustavo Cunha during a Saints break out late in the first half. Dobbin finished the goal shooting to the left side of the SWU keeper in the '34 minute. Cunha found Dobbin breaking free onside near the top of the opponent's box.

Head Coach Pat Parris used plenty of substitutions in planning to find the best 10 fielders to put on the field at once, a privilege Parris has during an exhibition match. Rade Tanaskovic made a couple of nice saves in goal in the first half to keep the Saints on top 1-0 going into halftime.

Southern Wesleyan would answer in the second half scoring on a free kick goal that would go untouched into the back of the Saints net.

The Saints had many positives and good things that came from the match along with some things that need to be addressed and focused on during practice time.  Coach Parris and his assistants will evaluate the film while the players receive a couple of recovery days.

The Saints return to action in their final exhibition game, next Saturday, August 27. The Saints will play host to SCAD at the North Georgia Soccer Complex; kickoff is set for 5:00 pm.

The first game of the regular season will be on September 2, as the North Georgia Saints will travel to Nova Southeastern.
