ANDERSON, S.C. – The North Georgia College & State University men's soccer team recorded their second-straight victory Wednesday evening, edging the Trojans of Anderson University 2-1, giving the Saints a solid Southeast Region victory.
The Saints are now 4-3 for the 2012 campaign while the Trojans fall to 1-6-2.
Anderson struck first in the 11th minute as Martin Brain played the ball into the box and placed the ball into the back of the net.
Three minutes later, Gustavo Cunha recorded his second goal of the season to knot the score at one-all with a laser from 15 yards out into the top of the net.
The two teams entered half time still tied 1-1 and it took nearly 13 minutes of the second half for an advantage to be gained. North Georgia's Chris Bishop scored the eventual game-winner off a corner kick by Amin El-Shami that just passed by the Anderson keeper's hands.
North Georgia held the 14-6 advantage in shots and a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks while Anderson held the 4-1 advantage in saves.
The Saints will next return home for a pair of Peach Belt Conference matches to close the month of September and open October. North Georgia will first welcome the Patriots of Francis Marion University on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 2:00 p.m.
