AUGUSTA, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University men's soccer player Daniel Bowlt has been tabbed the Peach Belt Conference Defender of the Week by the conference office it was announced Monday.
Bowlt, a 6-3 freshman defender from Newcastle, England, was a pivotal part of both North Georgia's offense and defense this past Saturday, Oct. 20 as the Saints went on the road to earn the 3-1 upset victory over 13th-ranked Flagler College.
With the help of Bowlt, the Saints' defense held Flagler to just the one goal and 20 shots, but only nine were on goal. Flagler was third in the conference in scoring offense entering Saturday's contest while North Georgia is currently third in the league in goals against average at 1.11.
Bowlt also added to the offensive effort as he scored the first goal of the game in the third minute as he sent a corner kick into the net. Following Flagler's equalizer 16 minutes later, Bowlt and the rest of the Saints' defense held Flagler at bay.
