Men’s Soccer Falls 2-1 in Quarterfinal Match to No. 21 Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The 2012 season came to an end for the  North Georgia College & State University men's soccer team Tuesday night as No. 21 Flagler defeated North Georgia 2-1 in the pair's Peach Belt Conference Touranment Quarterfinal match at Saints Field in St. Augustine, Fla.

The visiting Saints end their campaign with a record of 7-7-2 after being knocked out of the league tournament as the six-seed. Flagler, the tournament's three-seed, improves to 10-3-3 overall and will advance to the semifinal round held in Augusta, Ga. on Friday, Nov. 2.

Flagler, which out-shot North Georgia 21-6 in the match, edged out to an early 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when Eriend Lofsgaardscored off an assist from Johny Cosgrove.

North Georgia may have been out-shot 10-3 in the first period, but all three of the Saints' shots were on-goal. Manuel Hernandez scored the equalizer for North Georgia in the 22nd minute off a pass from Amin El-Shami.

The two teams entered halftime still tied at one-all, and remained dead-locked until 10 minutes left in the match. In the 80th minute, Kevin Keenan gave the nationally-ranked home Saints the eventual win with a header off a free kick from Cosgrove.

Despite giving up the pair of goals, Kristopher Alonzo made eight saves in the match while Camp Bissell made three for nationally-ranked Flagler.
