#23 Augusta State Holds off Saints 8-1 in PBC play

DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia men’s tennis team nearly missed a pair of doubles points early in the match as 29th-ranked Augusta State University came to town and picked up an 8-1 over the Saints Wednesday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference action.

The Saints fall to 1-14 overall on the season, and 1-5 in the Peach Belt Conference, while the Jaguars improve to 9-5 on the year and 3-5 in league action.

In doubles action, close matches both went the way of Augusta State as Daniel Aguilon and Adrien Saulais fell 8-5 at No. 2, while Andy McMaster and Parker LaSure fought to the same results at No. 3 doubles.

Aguilon continued his fight into singles action where he played the No. 1 spot and fell 6-4 in the opening set, but the Madrid, Spain, native rebounded with a 7-5 victory in the second set, and rallied in the tiebreaker, dropping Jenner Stevenson 10-7 for North Georgia’s lone point of the day.

North Georgia returns to action over the weekend, traveling to Flagler College on Friday afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. battle of the Saints, before taking on top-ranked Armstrong Atlantic in Savannah, Ga., on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
