Mateus Camasmie Tabbed as Moe's Athlete of the Week

DAHLONEGA, GA - Mateus Camasmie has been named the Moe's Southwest Grill North Georgia Athlete of the Week after leading the men's tennis team to a near upset of 14th-ranked Francis Marion University over the weekend.

Against the 14th-ranked team in the country, Camasmie was responsible for two of North Georgia's three points as the Saints were a few points away in two different matches from taking down the Patriots.

In doubles action against FMU, Camasmie and Adrien Saulais battled past Tim Ruepke and Dirk Bair, taking the final two games of the set for the 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles.

In single play, the Bebedouro - São Paulo, Brazil, native took on Karl Rogers at the No. 2 spot and quickly captured the opening set 6-2. After falling 5-7 in the second set, Camasmie battled back and rallied for the 6-4 victory in the third set to give the Saints one of their two points in singles play.

The 5-9 freshman is 3-1 overall on the year in single action, while posting a 3-1 record at doubles play. Camasmie and the Saints return to action on Tuesday afternoon, welcoming Newberry to town, before North Georgia hits the road for three straight road matches in PBC action.
