Men's Tennis Falls to 9th-Ranked Georgia College

MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – The North Georgia men's tennis team battled 9th-ranked Georgia College on Thursday afternoon, and the Bobcats pulled away late at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility for the 6-3 Peach Belt Conference victory.

The Saints fall to 3-4 overall on the year and are still searching for their first Peach Belt Conference win, sitting at 0-3 on the season in league action. The Bobcats improve to 8-3 on the year and 3-2 in the conference.

The Saints pulled out a single point in doubles, as Felipe Friedrich and Mateus Camasmie upset Jerome Leborgne and Johan Wadstein 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, but North Georgia still trailed 2-1 heading to singles play.

North Georgia quickly picked up a pair of points when Camasmie toppled Wadstein in straight sets at No. 2 singles, cruising by the sophomore 6-3, 6-4. Giovani Santos also came out on top at No. 3 singles, taking down Tobias Rausch 7-5, 6-3 to knot the match at 3-3 with three matches still in progress.

The Bobcats took over from there, picking wins in all three remaining matches to pull out the 6-3 victory hold off the Saints' upset bid.

North Georgia returns to action over the weekend in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, playing three matches in as many days, including a regional match with Brevard College on Saturday morning.
