ROME, GA – The North Georgia men's tennis team swept all three doubles matches on Thursday afternoon and cruised to an 8-1 victory over Berry College at Richards Tennis Complex in non-conference action..
The Saints win back-to-back matches for the first time since the middle of March, improving to 8-9 overall, while the Vikings fall to 11-7 on the year.
North Georgia could do little wrong in doubles action, picking up an 8-4 victory at the No. 1 position, while snagging 8-3 decisions at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take a 3-0 lead into singles play.
The Saints carried the momentum into singles action, recording wins in each of the top four positions in straight sets, while Clayton Nedza fought his way to a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 victory over Ben Ortman at No. 6 singles.
Steven Weeks picked up the only point for Berry in the match, running past Andy McMaster 6-3, 6-4, but North Georgia held on for the 8-1 victory.
North Georgia returns to action on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Georgia Southwestern for a Peach Belt Conference match against the Hurricanes. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex.
