Saints Stay on Track, Silence Wingate 6-3 with Road Victory

WINGATE, NC – The North Georgia men's tennis team stayed hot on Thursday afternoon, winning their third straight contest as they defeated Wingate 6-3 at the Wingate University Tennis Complex.

After losing their season opener, the Saints (10-2) have won 10 of their last 11 matches, while Wingate (6-5) dropped their third straight contest to a Peach Belt Conference opponent.

North Georgia came racing out of the gates, sweeping doubles play for the second consecutive match. The duo of Felipe Friedrich and Mateus Camasmie cruised to an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, while the tandems of Matheus Guida/Rodrigo Magan and Brandon Sloan/Giovani Santos each won their matches 8-5 at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles respectively.

The Saints and Bulldogs split singles action with each team winning three matches. After dropping the first set, Friedrich rallied to win the next two escaping with the victory at No. 1 singles, while Guida and Sloan both won their matches in straight sets.

North Georgia looks to run their winning streak to four and stay perfect at home on March 18, when they faceoff against Peach Belt Conference foe Augusta State.
