DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia men's tennis team checks in at No. 6 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II Southeast Region Rankings released on Wednesday afternoon.

With the Saints cracking the region's top 10, they all but assure themselves of the program's first-ever national ranking when the poll is released later this month.

Sitting at 12-2 on the season, North Georgia has already set program records for wins in a season since entering the NCAA seven years ago, and consecutive wins with seven. The Saints are currently on a five game winning streak and have come out on top in 12 of their last 13 matches dating back to a 6-3 win at Coker College on February 8.

Topping the Southeast Region rankings is unbeaten Armstrong Atlantic. The Peach Belt Conference dominates the region as usual, holding nine of the top 10 spots in the region, including the top eight. Columbus State is ranked 2nd, with Lander, Francis Marion and Augusta State rounding out the top five.

Following North Georgia at No. 6 is Flagler at No. 7, Georgia College at No. 8, Anderson at No. 9 and USC Aiken rounds out the region's top 10.

The Saints are also represented among the best doubles tandem's in the southeast, as Mateus Camasmie and Felipe Friedrich (pictured right) are ranked 10th in the region with an 8-4 record. Playing all 12 matches at No. 1 doubles, the duo is 1-2 in Peach Belt action and 7-2 in non-conference play.

Friedrich has also been impressive at No. 1 singles, posting a 9-3 mark, while Camasmie is 5-3 at No. 2 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 singles.

The program's biggest upset came on March 3, when the Saints traveled to St. Augustine, Florida, and upended 11th-ranked Flagler 5-4 in dramatic fashion. North Georgia then catapulted up the region rankings jumped just ahead of their conference foe.

The Saints will face plenty of tests in the coming days, as they will play three teams ranked in the southeast region's top 10 in a four day span from March 29-April 1.

North Georgia will welcome in-state rival Columbus State to town on March 29, before Lander comes calling on March 31. The Saints will turn right around on April 1, and take on USC Aiken in yet another Peach Belt Conference contest.
