DAHLONEGA, GA – After the best season in program history the North Georgia men's tennis team is preparing for the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Tournament hosted this year by Lander April 20-22 at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center.

The Saints (14-7, 3-6 PBC) matched their conference win total from the program's first seven years in 2012 and earned the first top 25 ranking in school history along the way.

North Georgia will be the No. 7 seed in the tournament and will take on 2nd-seeded and 8th-ranked Columbus State in the opening round Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. The winner will advance to Saturday's semifinal round against the winner of Lander and Augusta State.

Riding a perfect 21-0 record Armstrong is the No. 1 seed for the seventh straight year, with Columbus State earning the No. 2 seed. Host Lander is the No. 3 seed, while Francis Marion and Georgia College are the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds.

The top performers this year in doubles action for the Saints were the duos of Mateus Camasmie/Felipe Friedrich and Brandon Sloan/Giovani Santos. Camasmie and Friedrich are 11-7 overall and 3-5 in conference action at No. 1 doubles this season, while Sloan and Santos are 12-7 and 3-5 in PBC action, mainly operating at No. 3 doubles.

In singles action the leaders for the Saints in 2012 were Friedrich and Sloan. Friedrich is 11-5 this year and 3-4 in PBC competing every match at No. 1 singles, while Sloan is 11-6 and 2-4 in conference working mostly out of the No. 6 singles position. Matheus Guida has also performed well this year going 10-7 overall.
