Dahlonega Methodist Church to Hold Sports Salute

DAHLONEGA, GA – The Dahlonega United Methodist Church has announced that Sports Sunday Salute will take place later this month, recognizing the North Georgia athletics department and the Saints softball team for their achievement over the last two seasons.

Sunday, September 26, 2010, will serve as the Sports Sunday Salute as the 2010 North Georgia softball team will be on hand, as well as members for the 2011 squad to be recognized for their outstanding performance.

The event will take place at the 11:00 a.m. service at Dahlonega United Methodist Church, with a luncheon to immediately follow at 12:15 in the Fellowship Hall.

The Saints have accumulated an astounding 101-7 record over the last two years, including back-to-back Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament championships, and two straight NCAA Regional and Super Regional championships in Dahlonega.

They were ranked the nation's No. 1 team for 11 straight during the 2010 season, while winning 51 straight games, the second longest winning streak in NCAA softball history.
