Williams Named PBC Freshman of the Week Again
AUGUSTA, GA – Ansley Williams continues to bring home awards for the North Georgia softball team, earning Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week honors after exploding last week against two of the top teams in the country.
Williams earns PBC Freshman of the Week honors for the second time in the last three weeks, and becomes the first player in North Georgia history to earn the award two different times. Hilary Cox and Katherine Martin also earned the honor during their respective freshman campaigns.
Ansley Williams carried the North Georgia offense last week against the three of the best teams in the country, hitting .429 with nine hits, including three doubles, a home run, and four runs batted in.
In four games against #3 Valdosta State and #4 Alabama Huntsville, the freshman went 8-for-14 with four runs batted in and a home run. After a pair of games at West Georgia on Tuesday afternoon, Williams is now hitting .386 with six home runs, 24 runs batted in, and six doubles.
Williams and the Saints will now turn their attention to Thursday afternoon's Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against 21st-ranked Flagler College. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium.
