Softball Departs Campus, to be Featured on Fox 5

DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia softball team departed the North Georgia College & State University campus Tuesday morning for Salem, Virginia, and the NCAA Division II World Series at the Moyer Sports Complex.

Fans, faculty and staff, parents, and members of the community were present to "sendoff" the Saints to their straight NCAA National Championship appearance.

Fox 5 Atlanta was also covered the event, talking with head coach Mike Davenport and junior third baseman Hilary Cox about a return trip to the World Series. The Atlanta based television station will air the feature Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

The North Georgia sports communications office will cover every angle of the World Series, including Wednesday morning's NCAA community service and practice on the championship field, and the World Series banquet and NFCA All-American presentations on Wednesday evening.

The Saints will open play on Thursday evening at 5:00 p.m., taking on Indiana (pa.) in the opening round of the World Series. NCAA.com will have a live broadcast of the event, and Johnny B's in Dahlonega will show the National Championship games live on a high definition projection screen. Head Coach Mike Davenport will also join Thunder 104.3 and "The Bo Show" every morning at 8:00 a.m. to discuss the World Series experience and give fans the latest information about the team.
