SPARTANBURG, SC – North Georgia completed the perfect weekend at the 2012 Mid-South Classic with a 3-0 win over Le Moyne at Tyger River Park.
The Saints (19-3) got a great performance out of Krysten Connelly in the circle. The junior threw a complete game shutout over the Dolphins who traveled all the way from Syracuse, New York.
Connelly (1-0) only allowed three hits while surrendering just one walk. In just her second start of the season, she pitched about as well as any North Georgia pitcher has this year.
Hilary Cox led the way picking up two RBI's while going 1-for-2 at the dish. Cox smacked a double and also scored a run.
Despite only having two hits in the game, the Saints used a dominant effort from Connelly and solid defense to pick up their 19th win of the season.
North Georgia finished the weekend going 5-0, including four significant region wins. The most impressive win came over 22nd-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday.
They scored 28 runs on 37 hits, while crushing four home runs. The Saints also hit eight doubles and picked up 23 RBI's.
The pitching was on top of its game over the weekend as usual, as the staff only allowed 7 runs in five games. Jessica Coan, Melissa Dickie and Krysten Connelly combined to shut down the competition in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
North Georgia gets back to action on Wednesday when they host Bellarmine University at 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM in Dahlonega.
