ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The sixth-seeded University of South Carolina Aiken Pacers pulled off the first upset of the tournament Saturday afternoon behind a fourth-inning grand slam to right field by Alyssa Cook to defeat the third-seeded and nationally 13th-ranked University of North Georgia Saints 5-2 at Flagler Field in the third quarterfinal of the 2013 Peach Belt Conference Softball Tournament hosted by Flagler College.

The University of North Georgia had five players earn All-Conference plaudits and the Saints had a player claim Freshman of the Year honors for the second straight year as Courtney Poole took home the award off a stellar freshman campaign.

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Last Friday, Mar. 22, the University of North Georgia family lost a member of its family and one of its biggest fans as Daniel "Dan" Jackson Davis passed away at the age of 73. In memory of Mr. Davis, the North Georgia Athletic Department held a moment of silence the following day during the Saints' baseball games and will do so again on Sunday, Apr 7.

Those indivudals include former baseball coach Jim Otte, Sr., former baseball player William Geiler, former women’s basketball player Anne (Smith) Hyams, and former softball and women’s basketball player Kara (Winkler) Leonard.

Phillips, a two-time All-American and four-year standout at North Georgia, joins the Highlanders in the role of pitching coach after serving as a graduate assistant at her alma mater last season.

With the 2013 softball season approaching, the North Georgia softball program has released its uniform sets to be worn during competition beginning February, 2013. The "2013 Uniform Combinations" link can be found on the Saints Softball website HERE.

Softball Set to Host Fall Tournament Sunday, Oct. 7
DAHLONEGA, GA – While the fall sports teams at North Georgia College & State University are on the road this weekend there will still be plenty of action on the North Georgia campus as the Saints softball team will host their annual fall tournament at Haines & Carolyn Hill Softball Stadium. The one-day event will include teams from Middle Georgia College, Piedmont College and the host Saints in three games on Sunday, Oct. 7.

Softball Inviting Prospective Student-Athletes to November Prospect Camp
DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia Saints Softball Program is inviting current high school prospective student-athletes to take part in the 2012 November Prospect Camp - Saturday, Nov. 3 - Sunday, Nov. 4. The two-day camp will last from 9:00 a.m. until 4 p.m. and there are still slots available.

Former Saint Softball Player, Coan, Leaving Her Mark on Europe
MANNHEIM, Germany – For just about every kid who plays sports, the ultimate goal is to be able to advance to the professional level. The love of the game and promise of being able to reach that level keeps them striving to be the best that they can be and for former North Georgia College & State softball player Jessica Coan, her dream has become a reality this summer as she traveled to Europe to continue to perfect her craft and even expand her borders; both literally and figuratively.
