DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia College & State University softball team has enjoyed a tremendous run of success in the past few years and part of that is thanks to the support from the city of Dahlonega and the local community.
Monday night, Dahlonega's Mayor, Gary McCullough, held a ceremony at City Hall where he proclaimed that the week of November 5 through November 10 be set aside to recognize the accomplishments of the Saints softball program and its accomplishments.
Coach Mike Davenport and members of the 2013 team were present for the ceremony where they accepted a framed copy of the proclamation.
The proclamation recognizes the program for its 648 wins since 1997, five trips to the Softball College World Series, eight conference crowns and three region championships.
It also recognizes Coach Davenport for his role in leading the program to a string of five years of being ranked in the top-five in the national standings, his 514-159 record and having coached two national Pitchers of the Year and 11 All-Americans.
