DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The University of North Georgia softball team hosted the Lumpkin County Heroes on Wednesday, May 23 at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium in Dahlonega. The game served as the Heroes final game of their Spring 2013 schedule.
The Heroes took on the North Georgia Express 10U softball team and picked up a 33-3 win in the two-inning contest in front of the full crowd of friends and family at “The Hill”.
Members of the UNG softball team were on hand to help out and give support to the Heroes team, which is made up of individuals of special needs ranging from ages 5-57 that participate on this Lumpkin County team. Helping with the Heroes on Wednesday were UNG members Hayley Robinson, Tiffanie Burns, Courtney Poole, Karlie Gillam and Meredith Heyer.
"This event is one of the best events we host at "The Hill”. Our players love the opportunity to support these individuals each year and we look forward to having them on campus again soon," said North Georgia head softball coach Mike Davenport. "We would also like to send a special thank you to all of the volunteers who give their time and energy working with this group and Mrs. Susan Burrell for her support of the LC Heroes."
