Lady Saints fall 86-96 at Francis Marion

FLORENCE, SC - North Georgia College & State University led by four at the half, but fell 86-96 at 22nd-ranked Francis Marion University Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Saints found themselves down by nine points at the 10:02 mark of the first half, but less than five minutes later North Georgia took the lead on a layup from Syretha Marble to make it a 32-21 lead. The Lady Saints' first lead of the game carried over into halftime where they enjoyed a four-point advantage.
North Georgia led until the 16:23 mark when Brittany Young sank a jumper to give the Patriots a point lead at 43-44. The Lady Saints pulled to within four points with 27 seconds remaining, but could not complete the comeback in a 10-point loss.
The North Georgia loss overshadowed a 30-point, 11-rebound performance by senior forward Kourtney Singleton. She hit 14 of 19 free throw attempts and also handed out four assists. Megan Huffman added 15 points and six rebounds before fouling out and Syretha Marble chipped in 13 points and six rebounds.
North Georgia (12-5, 4-5 PBC) will return to action against Lander University on January 30, for a 5:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match-up.
