North Georgia moves a game over .500 in PBC play
DAHLONEGA, GA - North Georgia College & State University led by just eight at the break, but pulled away in the second half for a 95-72 victory over visiting Georgia Southwestern State University here Monday evening in Peach Belt Conference action.
The Lady Hurricanes fall to 1-23 overall and stay winless in the conference at 0-17, while the Lady Saints move to 16-8 and a game over .500 in PBC play at 9-8.
Syretha Marble had her fifth 30-point performance of the year, with 30 points and 10 rebounds for the only double double of the game, while four other Lady Saints scored in double-figures to lead the charge. Megan Huffman put up 14 points, followed by Lindsey Kitchens with 11, while Victoria Peevy and Rachael Jolley each added 10.
GSW was led Brynne Callaway who had 13 points and four rebounds, while Jamilah Sharp added 11 points and six rebounds for the Lady Hurricanes.
North Georgia led by just eight at the break, but used an 11-3 run to open the half to take an 18 point lead at 54-36 on a Huffman layup with 15:07 remaining in the contest. The Lady Saints would lead by as much as 26 on a jumper by Peevy, but a last-second three-pointer by Ivana Udovalieva gave North Georgia the 23-point home victory.
North Georgia (16-8, 9-8 PBC) returns to action on Wednesday, February 20, at Clayton State for another Peach Belt Conference match-up at 5:30 p.m.
