DAHLONEGA, GA - The North Georgia women's basketball team is set to host a "Play 4Kay" game this weekend, a nationwide initiative sponsored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) that brings attention to breast cancer awareness.

The Lady Saints will play host to Georgia Southwestern on Saturday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference west division showdown for the event.

North Georgia will also honor their senior class of Kari McCann and Lindsey Moss during the festivities. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall

The Lady Saints are proud to join nearly every NCAA school in the country to help raise money for cancer awareness on Saturday afternoon. All proceeds from the Peach Belt Conference doubleheader will be donated to help find a cure for the deadly disease. Pink t-shirts will also be available for sale at the entrance to Memorial Hall.

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund contributes valuable resources and awareness to a very important global health care concern. Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of death for all women and the leading overall cause of cancer death in women between the ages of 20-59. In the United States, breast cancer is expected to be newly diagnosed every three minutes and a woman will die from breast cancer every 13 minutes.

The fund was put together in memory of the late Kay Yow, the former long-time head coach at North Carolina State who died of breast cancer in January of 2009. Overall, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund has raised more than 5.2 million dollars.
