SAVANNAH, GA – The North Georgia women's golf team struggled during the opening day of the Armstrong Atlantic Late Pirate Invitational, currently sitting eighth place in the field of nine times at the Savannah Quarters Country Club.
A trio of Peach Belt Conference schools sit atop the leaderboard, as UNC Pembroke and Flagler College are deadlocked at 33-over-par heading into Monday's final round. Armstrong Atlantic is four shots off the lead and has a firm grasps on third place, while South Carolina Beaufort is fourth, and Columbus State is fifth.
North Georgia is in eighth place at 88-over-par with a 376 total, while Coker College is a stroke behind the Lady Saints at 89-over-par after Sunday afternoon's opening 18 holes.
Flagler's Maria Alstrom leads the tournament with an opening round 5-over-par 77, while UNC Pembroke's Shauna Walor is a stroke off the pace following a 6-over-par 78.
The Lady Saints will play the final round of the Armstrong Atlantic Lady Pirate Invitational on Monday morning with a shotgun start set for 8:00 a.m. at Savannah Quarters Country Club.
