POOLER, GA – The North Georgia women's golf team is rounding out the field following the opening round of the 2011 Peach Belt Conference Championships, sitting in sixth place at Savannah Quarters Country Club.
UNC Pembroke holds a five-shot lead over 21st-ranked and defending champion Flagler (314), with Columbus State (320) third and host Armstrong Atlantic State University fourth (325). Montevallo (328) is in fifth followed by North Georgia (360) in sixth.
UNC Pembroke has four players in the top 10, led by individual leader Katja Dammann, who fired a one-over-par 73 on Monday to lead by one stroke over Flagler's Marissa Marinan (74). The Braves' Meghan Moore is tied for fifth after a 78 and both Shauna Walor and Kelly Sumner are tied for seventh after shooting rounds of 79.
The shot of the day for the women came from Columbus State's Heather Altiser, who holed out her second shot on the par-4 ninth hole for an eagle-2.
Catalina Olarte is currently tied for 13th place overall after a 9-over-par 81, while Casey Truelove is in 25th place following a 19-over-par 91. Jodie Borchert and Erica Breeden are tied for 28th place at 22-over-par, while Daisy Wright rounds out the field at 35-over-par.
Play concludes in the second Peach Belt Conference Women's Golf Championships with a single round of 18 holes on Tuesday beginning at 8:00 a.m.
