Leigh Anne Hunter is in her fifth season as the head coach of the women’s golf program at the University of North Georgia.  Hunter is also the Senior Woman Administrator for UNG.

After serving as the graduate assistant for the women’s golf team in 2009-10, Hunter took over as the head coach produced immediate results, including coaching Catalina Olarte to Peach Belt All-Tournament honors in 2011.

Hunter attended Shorter College, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2005 with a Bachelor in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing. While at Shorter, She played golf and was a three-time NAIA All-American, while earning Academic All-American honors on two different occasions. She was inducted into Shorter University's Athletic Hall of Fame in October of 2011.

At the NAIA National Championships, Shorter finished ninth in 2003, 7th in 2004, and 10th in 2005. Individually, Hunter finished runner-up at the 2003 NAIA National Championships, tied for 16th at the 2004 NAIA National Championships, and finished her collegiate career tied for 15th at the 2005 NAIA National Championships.

Shorter won the Region XIII Championship in 2002, 2003, and 2004, while Hunter was named to the Region XIII All-Tournament Team in 2003 (Low-Medalist), 2004, and 2005.

In 2007, Hunter attended Berry College to work on her Masters degree in Education and Teacher Certification in Health and PE, while serving as the graduate assistant for the men’s and women’s golf programs. Both teams were consistently ranked in the top 15 with the women being ranked as high as #2 in the spring of 2008.  The women won two NAIA Region XIII Championships, finished 9th in the 2008 National Championships, and 6th in the 2009 Championships.

Hunter graduated in August of 2010 with her Masters in Arts in Teaching degree, while also receiving her Teacher Certification in Health and Physical Education.
