DAHLONEGA, GA - The No. 11-ranked Lady Saints (7-0) will look to remain perfect on the season as they travel to Clayton State for their fourth conference game of the year on Wednesday evening.
North Georgia has improved its winning streak to seven as they sit atop the Peach Belt standings at 3-0. Taking down Belmont Abbey and Montevallo last week, the Lady Saints continue to just run over the teams in their path. Clayton State is the next road bump for North Georgia; they will look to be the first team to take down the Lady Saints this season.
Clayton State Lakers Body of Work
Current Record: 3-4 (0-2 PBC)
Conference Rank: 10th
Conference Prediction in 2011: 8th
Goal Differential in 2011: +2
Last Season vs. Saints: North Georgia won 4-1
The Show Goes On - North Georgia has yet to lose a game this season, blowing by the competition. They have outscored their opponents 18-3, allowing the fewest goals in the Peach Belt this season. North Georgia is the only remaining unbeaten left in the PBC and the Southeast Region, having really only been challenged once by UNC Pembroke. It has been the same song and dance for Chris Adams and his Lady Saints this year, and that is not good for the opponents.
Dover's Dominance, Again - The senior has yet again dominated the competition over the past week, this time it was Montevallo who caught the wrath. Emily Dover scored both goals to give North Georgia their seventh straight victory. Dover leads her first-place Lady Saint in points, goals and game-winners. She has started and played in all seven games this season and also holds the dagger that came against UNC Pembroke in double overtime a couple weeks ago.
Ross is the Boss - The saying goes that defense wins championships, and if Kirsten Ross continues to play at this high of level, North Georgia hopes the saying holds true. Ross has started and played in all but 13 minutes of the seven games this season for the Lady Saints. She has allowed just three goals to lead the Peach Belt this season and has tallied 30 saves along the way.
Feels Like the First Time - Clayton State has yet to win a game in the Peach Belt this season, having dropped their first two games both on the road at Lander and Armstrong Atlantic. This is the conference home opener for the Lakers this season and taking down the first-place Lady Saints would boost this team. If they succeed, it will be a first time for both North Georgia and Clayton State. The Lady Saints have yet to lose a game overall this season, while the Lakers have yet to win a conference game, but have also not lost at home.
Valentine's Day - The Lakers are led by Natalia Valentine who has scored a team-high seven goal this season. The next closest total is two goals by two other players, so it is clear that Clayton goes as Valentine goes. If Clayton State is going to pull the upset, Valentine is going to need to have a big day.
