Jags Hold Off Lady Saints Netters 7-2 in PBC Action

DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia women’s tennis team snagged points in doubles and singles on Wednesday afternoon, but the 29th-ranked Augusta State Jaguars held on for the 7-2 Peach Belt Conference victory at the NGCSU Tennis Complex.

The Lady Saints fall to 6-11 overall on the season, and 3-6 in the Peach Belt Conference, while the Jaguars improve to 11-6 on the year and 6-5 in league action.

North Georgia’s doubles point came from the duo of Juliana Chiong and Jordan Poole who combined to take down Victoria Lindqvist and Keaton Sanders 8-2, while in single action, Jordan Poole came through a three-set victory for the Lady Saints’ second point of the day. Poole took the opening set 6-4, and after dropping the second set 6-1, rallied in the tiebreaker to drop Sanders 12-10.

Brittany Smith led 4-1 in her opening set against Marina Ferreria, but the Lady Jag rallied to take the set 7-5, before Smith retired trailing 3-2 in the second.

North Georgia returns to action over the weekend, traveling to Flagler College on Friday afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. battle of the Saints, before taking on top-ranked Armstrong Atlantic in Savannah, Ga., on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
