No. 1 Pirates Blank Lady Saints in Peach Belt Play

DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss to the No. 1 team in the country on Sunday afternoon, falling to Armstrong Atlantic at the Yahoola Creek Tennis Complex in Peach Belt Conference action.

The Lady Saints fall to 7-11 overall and 2-9 in the Peach Belt Conference, while the Lady Pirates clinch a share of its eighth straight PBC regular season title with the victory, improving to 20-0 overall and 11-0 in league play.

North Georgia dropped all three doubles matches, winning single games at the No. 1 and No. 2 slots, while Audrey Marlette and Matilda Watson captured a pair of games but fell 8-2 at the hands of Kathleen Henry and Joanna Szymczyk at No. 3 doubles.

The Lady Saints could not pick up a point in singles play either against the three-time defending National Champions, falling in straight sets in all six matches, with five of the six Armstrong Atlantic players ranked among the nation's top 40.

North Georgia returns to action on Tuesday afternoon, welcoming Young Harris to town for a non-conference showdown against the Mountain Lions. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Yahoola Creek Tennis Complex.
