GCSU to Host Charity Race at PBC Champs

Milledgeville, GA - Georgia College & State University’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is set to host a 3K run for The Make-A-Wish Foundation Saturday, Oct. 25 immediately following the Peach Belt Cross Country Championships. This event adds to the festivities of Alumni Day.

The benefit run starts at 11:30 a.m. and is open to the public and returning alumni. All participants pay a $10 entry fee payable at the event. To register, contact Al Weston at alan.weston@gcsu.edu or 478-445-1779. Runners will make checks payable to GCSU Athletics.

Georgia College’s West Campus Cross Country course serves as the host trail. All runners will receive a free t-shirt with all proceeds going to Make-A-Wish.

The Fun Run is part of a larger Peach Belt Conference community engagement initiative that aims to provide community involvement at each PBC championship event.  Along with the cross country run, the conference will host a Breakfast With the Champions at the men's and women's soccer tournaments on Nov. 8 and co-sponsor a clinic with UNC Pembroke surrounding the volleyball tournament Nov. 15-16.

Founded in 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has reached more than 160,000 children with life threatening medical conditions and is actively supported by the Peach Belt Conference SAAC.
