Ben Chedgy, Men's Soccer
Ben Chedgy has been named the year’s first
Moe’s Southwest Grill North Georgia Athlete of the Week after
leading the men’s soccer team to a 1-0-1 record to open the
season. The senior anchored a defense that stifled 14th-ranked
Anderson College in their season opener, holding the Trojans
scoreless for all 120 minutes of action in a double overtime tie.
Chedgy then came back and scored his second career goal against
Belmont Abbey in the final game of the Clayton State Laker
Shootout, a golden goal in the 112th minute to send North Georgia
to their first win of year and best start to a season since
entering the NCAA in 2005. The Somerset, England, native leads a
defense that is fourth in the league in goals allowed at 1.00 per
game. The Saints return to action on Wednesday evening for their
home opener against Lenoir-Rhyne College at the newly renovated
Soccer Complex. Kickoff against the Bears is set for 5:00 p.m.
