DAHLONEGA, GA - Carl Taylor has been named the
Moe’s Southwest Grill North Georgia Athlete of the Week after
averaging 11 points in a pair of games last week the sports
information office announced Monday afternoon.
The junior came out against the 13th-ranked team in the country
and scored nine points, all coming in clutch three-pointers as
North Georgia upset previously unbeaten Montevallo at BankTrust
Arena.
The Conyers, Ga., native then scored 13 points on a 5-6 shooting
performance from the floor, knocking down three more buckets from
behind the arc as the Saints took down Lander to claim their third
straight Peach Belt Conference victory and move up to second place
in the PBC West Division.
For the week, Taylor drained six of eight three-pointers, and
currently sits in the top 10 in the league in three-point field
goals made, hitting 29 on the season for a 2.23 average per
game.
Taylor will lead North Georgia in two more PBC games this week,
hosting USC Aiken and Georgia Southwestern as the Saints look to
stay in the thick of the Peach Belt Conference title race.
