DAHLONEGA, GA – Junior left fielder Chad
Sage has been named the Moe’s Southwest Grill North Georgia
Athlete of the Week after leading the Saints to a weekend series
victory over UNC Pembroke the sports information announced on
Monday morning.
In four games last week, Sage exploded offensively, hitting .632
with three home runs, 12 runs batted in, and 10 runs scored. The
junior started the week on the road at Anderson, going 5-6 with
five runs batted in, and four runs scored.
He then opened the weekend against 21st-ranked UNC Pembroke with
another five RBI game, this time launching two home runs to bring
the Saints back from a five-run deficit for a series-opening
victory against the Braves.
In the final two games against UNCP, the Gainesville, Ga., native
recorded a pair of hits in each contest while driving home a run in
both games, including another home run in the weekend finale. He
had an on-base percentage of .667 and a slugging percentage of
1.158 in four games.
The junior is currently hitting .450 on the season with seven home
runs, 26 runs batted in, 20 runs scored, and a slugging percentage
of .833. Sage is currently riding an 11-game hitting streak and has
five straight games with at least one RBI. He leads the Peach Belt
Conference with 27 hits and is third in batting average, second in
runs batted in, and second in home runs.
