DAHLONEGA, GA - Howard Duffin has been named the
Moe’s Southwest Grill North Georgia Athlete of the Week after
leading the Saints to their first-ever victory as a team and as an
individual the sports information office announced on Tuesday
morning.
Last week in a head-to-head match against the University of Dayton
Ohio, Duffin captured the individual title with a two-round
three-over-par performance, clearing Dayton’s Matt Buse by
three strokes.
In round one at the Reynnolds Plantation Oconee Course, the
Wigmore, England, native shot a school record two-under-par 69 to
hold a seven shot lead at the midway point.
He then came back with a final round 78 at the Achasta Golf Club to
hold on for three shot victory, giving him the first individual
title in North Georgia history and helping lead the Saints to a
five-shot victory over the Flyers, also the first title in program
history.
In 12 rounds this season, Duffin in averaging 77.5 per round,
including a round in the 60’s, and seven rounds in the
70’s.
