DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia Sports Information Director David Beall has announced the addition of Rusty Brown as the new play-by-play voice of the Saints and Lady Saints for the 2009-10 year.

Brown will serve as the play-by-play voice for the Saints and Lady Saints basketball teams, giving fans a live look at the North Georgia basketball at home and on the road.

“We are very excited to have Rusty on board as the new voice of the North Georgia athletic department,” said Sports Information Director David Beall.

Tune in 30 minutes prior to every North Georgia basketball game to hear the pregame show that will feature exclusive interviews with head coaches Chris Faulkner and Buffie Burson.

“Rusty brings the experience and talent to take North Georgia to the next level,” Beall said. “His passion for broadcasting will be a perfect fit with the new initiative to get the Saints and Lady Saints heard in the community.”

Following every home game, Brown will be in the media room for postgame reaction from the coaches, followed by exclusive access to players in the Locker room.

Brown will also serve as the host of the North Georgia coaches shows that will broadcast live from venues in and around Dahlonega and give an inside look at North Georgia athletics. Coaches will join the show, along with players, and special guests.

Brown, a native of Lilburn, Georgia, has spent the last four years working for a variety of media outlets and comes to Dahlonega from Sports Radio 790 The Zone where he has served as the Assistant Producer for The Pollack and Bell Show.

While receiving his degree from Georgia Southern University in Information Broadcasting, Brown served as the play-by-play commentator for the Georgia Southern baseball and football programs, hosting pregame and postgame shows, while serving as the broadcast director for WVGS 91.9 The Buzz.

Brown has also spent time in the newspaper business, serving as the Chief Staff Sports Columnist for The 11th Hour Newsweekly in Statesboro, Georgia. He covered Georgia Southern football and conducted interviews with players and coaches during the season.

He has also spent time at WGUR 88.9 Sports Radio in Milledgeville, Georgia, as an on-air personality and co-sports director. During his time at WGUR, Brown spent time on-air discussing sports topics with callers and presenting sports news.

Brown will make his debut with North Georgia on Saturday, November 14, as the men’s basketball team travels to Kennesaw State University. The pregame show will be live from KSU Convocation Center starting at 7:00 p.m.
