Rusty Brown Named Voice of the Saints for 2009-10
DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia Sports
Information Director David Beall has announced the addition of
Rusty Brown as the new play-by-play voice of the Saints and Lady
Saints for the 2009-10 year.
Brown will serve as the play-by-play voice for the Saints and Lady
Saints basketball teams, giving fans a live look at the North
Georgia basketball at home and on the road.
“We are very excited to have Rusty on board as the new voice
of the North Georgia athletic department,” said Sports
Information Director David Beall.
Tune in 30 minutes prior to every North Georgia basketball game to
hear the pregame show that will feature exclusive interviews with
head coaches Chris Faulkner and Buffie Burson.
“Rusty brings the experience and talent to take North
Georgia to the next level,” Beall said. “His passion
for broadcasting will be a perfect fit with the new initiative to
get the Saints and Lady Saints heard in the community.”
Following every home game, Brown will be in the media room for
postgame reaction from the coaches, followed by exclusive access to
players in the Locker room.
Brown will also serve as the host of the North Georgia coaches
shows that will broadcast live from venues in and around Dahlonega
and give an inside look at North Georgia athletics. Coaches will
join the show, along with players, and special guests.
Brown, a native of Lilburn, Georgia, has spent the last four years
working for a variety of media outlets and comes to Dahlonega from
Sports Radio 790 The Zone where he has served as the Assistant
Producer for The Pollack and Bell Show.
While receiving his degree from Georgia Southern University in
Information Broadcasting, Brown served as the play-by-play
commentator for the Georgia Southern baseball and football
programs, hosting pregame and postgame shows, while serving as the
broadcast director for WVGS 91.9 The Buzz.
Brown has also spent time in the newspaper business, serving as
the Chief Staff Sports Columnist for The 11th Hour Newsweekly in
Statesboro, Georgia. He covered Georgia Southern football and
conducted interviews with players and coaches during the
season.
He has also spent time at WGUR 88.9 Sports Radio in Milledgeville,
Georgia, as an on-air personality and co-sports director. During
his time at WGUR, Brown spent time on-air discussing sports topics
with callers and presenting sports news.
Brown will make his debut with North Georgia on Saturday, November
14, as the men’s basketball team travels to Kennesaw State
University. The pregame show will be live from KSU Convocation
Center starting at 7:00 p.m.
