Denise Bryant is in her fifth year
as the compliance coordinator for the Department of Athletics in
2011-12. She is in her 21st year at North Georgia and 18th in the
Department of Athletics.
Denise’s primary duties and responsibilities as compliance
coordinator include monitoring, reporting and complying with all
NCAA, Peach Belt Conference and North Georgia University rules and
regulations; acting as a liaison with the NCAA, PBC, Financial Aid
and Registrar’s offices for compliance and scholarship
issues; interpreting or securing interpretations for compliance
with NCAA and PBC rules and procedures; serving as manager of the
NCAA Initial Eligibility Center and the National Letter of Intent
programs; working closely with the Faculty Athletic Representative
(FAR) on certification of eligibility and rules compliance issues;
administering and overseeing recruiting activities, athletics
grant-in-aid programs, eligibility certification for practice and
competition, financial aid, and NCAA squad lists; compiling,
reviewing and submitting requests for eligibility waivers and other
requests for waivers and appeals related to NCAA rules.
In her role as SWA, Denise will oversee the Student Athlete
Advisory Committee (SAAC), a committee made up of student-athletes
assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The
SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that
affect student-athletes' lives on NCAA member institution
campuses.
A lifelong resident of Dahlonega, Denise and her husband Skipper
are the parents of Emily Bryant and the late Jeremy Wehunt.
